I’m starting this blog entry at 2:35 pm (or 1435 as I think I’m going to have to get used to) Central time from the Houston Airport. our day so far:
Got up at 5:00 am, walked from the house to the bottom of the hill (corner of 28th Street and Colorado Ave) and caught the AB2 bus to the airport. Then flew to Houston. So far, so good. Our first flight was fairly short. We now have a three-hour(ish) layover. Our next flight (to Lima) takes off around 4:30. That is a six-hour flight. The trip is starting to be real. We will be in Lima until Friday.t
The rest of the day…
We boarded the plane at 4:30 as promised, sat down and then were told we had to deplane. Our plane was put in “maintenance mode”. We were told that they weren’t sure when we would be able to get back on the plane. I won’t keep you in suspense: it wasn’t too bad. We boarded again around 5:30 and this time “it stuck.” We got upgraded to Economy Plus (a very strange term if you ask me) and it did make a difference. In my opinion the best thing one can say about a plane trip is that it was uneventful and this one passed that test. I got a little sleep, finished the last few episodes of Hacks and watched the first episode of “Bad Monkey.” We arrived in Lima at 1:30

So now we’re in Peru. The hotel is nice and we are exhausted. Tomorrow will be the first real day of our adventure. I made a new friend that is helping me with our trip: Chet (my name for ChatGPT, apologies to my actual brother Chet). Chet made an itinerary for our two days here and tomorrow we go to the Museum of Contemporary Art. But now, an overdue rest.
